Service & Recognition

Helping Communities and
Honoring Special Service

Frontline security officers are the foundation of our industry — the professionals whose vigilance, judgment, and everyday courage make our companies what they are. Their work strengthens communities, protects people, and embodies the very purpose of security. The Ligue believes that extraordinary service deserves meaningful recognition, and that giving back is inseparable from our mission to help build safer, more resilient societies. Through our awards programs and our biennial charitable giving at the General Assembly, we honor exceptional contributions and invest in the communities our members serve. These initiatives reflect a simple truth: security is not only about safeguarding assets, but about elevating the people and places that depend on us.

Jorgen-Philipp Sorenson Award

Critical infrastructure encompasses more business sectors than is commonly understood, which governments must recognize in efforts to strengthen national security, as attacks on privately held, often unregulated critical infrastructure operators pose growing risks for societies.

In honor of the long-standing, former Chairman and President of the International Security Ligue the "Jørgen Philip-Sørensen Award" is presented at the Ligue's General Assembly. The award is given at the biennial event to individual(s) selected among nominees by member companies for Exceptional Leadership in the Security Industry.

2025

It was due to Darrian’s heroism that she escaped and is with her family today. His leadership exemplifies the highest standards and is representative of the collective work we all do to make the world a safer place. — Chrissy Toskos, Chief Human Resources Officer for Securitas North America
For his bravery, quick thinking, and calm under pressure, Darrian Hardy, a Securitas security officer in the U.S., received the Jorgen-Philipp Sorenson Award during the International Security Ligue’s 39th General Assembly this week in New York City.

In the early morning hours of a July day in Chicago, Darrian Hardy working his post at a downtown hotel, responded to a noise complaint about a woman screaming in the hallway. Officer Hardy took immediate action. He notified the police and the hotel manager on duty, assisted police to the scene, obtained a key card, and helped them get inside the hotel room. In the aftermath, Officer Hardy’s testimony was essential for bringing the human trafficker to justice—someone who was wanted for multiple kidnappings.
